# How to edit or reschedule a scheduled post

You can change a post any time before it publishes: its caption, media or scheduled time. Once a post is live, it can't be edited from Kredia.

## Before you start

- **The post is still scheduled.** Posts that are publishing, published or failed can't be edited. A failed post can be published again with **Post now** or deleted and recreated; see [How to publish a post now or retry a failed post](https://kredia.io/help/en/scheduling-and-calendar/publish-now-or-retry).
- **You're an Editor, Admin or Owner.** Viewers can open posts but not change them.

## Edit or move a post

1. Open **Scheduling** and find the post.
2. Open the edit window in one of these ways:
   - In the **Day** view, click the pencil icon (**Edit**) on the post.
   - In any view, click the post to open **Post details**, then click **Edit post**.
3. The **Edit Post** window opens with the post's current content. Change the caption under **Content**, replace or add media, or pick a new date and time under **Schedule Date & Time**.
4. Click **Save changes**.

Kredia checks the edited post again before saving. Problems that would stop it from publishing appear under **Cannot schedule — fix these issues first:**, and warnings (such as a connection that expires soon) under **Warnings:**.

You can also edit scheduled Instagram posts from the **Preview** page: open the post on the **Instagram** tab and click **Edit**.

## What editing does to approvals

- If the client's approval rules say an edited post needs approval again, saving resets the approvals it had. The post goes back to **Waiting** and appears in the approvers' **Approvals** inbox. The post's **Versions** tab shows the change.
- Each save creates a new version. Approvers always approve a specific version; see [How to compare versions, restore and comment on a post](https://kredia.io/help/en/approvals/versions-history-and-comments).
- Moving a held (overdue) post to a new time is one of the two ways to release it; the other is **Post now**. See [An approved post didn't publish](https://kredia.io/help/en/troubleshooting-and-platform-limits/approved-post-not-published).

## What can go wrong

- **There's no pencil icon.** The post isn't scheduled any more (it's publishing, published or failed), or you're a Viewer.
- **"Scheduled time must be in the future".** Pick a later time.
- **A published post needs a fix.** Edit it in the platform's own app, or repost it from Kredia as a new post; see [How to repost an existing post](https://kredia.io/help/en/creating-content/repost-a-post).
