# How to tag accounts and add Instagram collaborators

Two Instagram features help other accounts see a post. **Tags** put an account's name on the photo, and Instagram notifies that account. **Collaborators** (Instagram Collab) make the post appear on the collaborator's profile as well, once they accept.

## Before you start

- **The post goes to Instagram.** Both features are Instagram-only.
- **Know the exact usernames.** Instagram has no search that outside tools can use, so type public usernames exactly, without spaces.
- **You're an Editor, Admin or Owner.**

## Tag accounts on a photo

Tags work on feed photos: the post type is **Post** and the first item is a photo, not a video.

1. In the composer, select **Instagram**, keep the type on **Post**, and add the photo.
2. The **Tag people** panel shows the photo. Click the spot where the tag should go.
3. Type the account's username in the field that appears under the photo (no @ needed).
4. Repeat for each account. To remove a tag, click the **×** next to its username.

In a carousel, tags go on the cover (the first item) only.

## Add collaborators

Collaborators work on feed posts and Reels, not Stories.

1. In the composer, select **Instagram**.
2. In the **Co-authors** panel (**Instagram Collab**), type a username and press Enter or click **Add**. Suggestions come from the client accounts your agency has connected and from people you've collaborated with before.
3. Add up to 3 collaborators. Each must be a public professional account.
4. Schedule the post as usual.

When the post publishes, each collaborator gets a request in Instagram. The post appears on their profile after they accept it there; Kredia can't accept on their behalf.

## What can go wrong

- **The Tag people panel doesn't appear.** It shows only for Instagram feed posts whose first item is a photo. Reels, Stories and videos can't take photo tags.
- **"Enter a valid Instagram username".** Type the username in lowercase, using only letters, numbers, dots and underscores (up to 30 characters).
- **The post went out without collaborators.** If Instagram rejects a collaborator (for example a private or personal account), Kredia publishes the post without collaborators instead of failing it. Check the handles and ask the collaborators to switch to a public professional account.
