# Pre-publish checks and warnings

Before Kredia saves a post, it checks it against the rules of each platform you selected. Problems it can catch in advance are shown right away, so the post doesn't fail later at its scheduled time.

## What Kredia checks

- **The account is connected** for that client and platform.
- **The media fits the platform and the post type.** For example: Instagram needs a photo or video, TikTok and YouTube need a video, a Reel needs a video, a Story takes a single photo or video, Pinterest takes a single photo or video (no image carousel).
- **The media link works.** The first photo or video must be at a public address that really serves an image or video file. Otherwise you see, for example, "Media URL does not serve an image or video".
- **Required fields are filled in:** the Facebook Page when the client has several, a YouTube title (or a caption to take it from), a Pinterest board.
- **Length and count limits:** Instagram captions up to 2,200 characters and carousels up to 10 items; Threads up to 500 characters; LinkedIn up to 3,000 characters, up to 20 images, one video, no mixing of video and images; Pinterest titles up to 100 characters.
- **Basic form rules:** a client is selected, the caption isn't empty, and the scheduled time is in the future.

## Blocking problems vs warnings

**Blocking problems** stop that post from being created. Fix them and submit again.

- When you create a post for several platforms, the **Scheduling results** list shows each platform with a tick or a cross and the reason. Platforms that passed are scheduled; the failed ones stay selected so you can fix them and submit again.
- When you edit a post, the problems appear under **Cannot schedule — fix these issues first:**.

**Warnings** don't stop the post. The most common one is that a connection expires soon, for example "Instagram token expires in 3 day(s)". Reconnect the account before the scheduled time so the post doesn't fail. See [Account shows "Expired, reconnect"](https://kredia.io/help/en/troubleshooting-and-platform-limits/reconnect-an-expired-account).

**Cover warnings** appear when a video cover can't be used on a selected platform. Kredia asks you to **Continue anyway** or **Cancel**. See [How to choose a video cover](https://kredia.io/help/en/creating-content/choose-a-video-cover).

## In the mobile app

The mobile composer has a **Validate** button that checks the post with the platform without scheduling it. The result reads **Ready to publish** or **Can't publish yet**, with a list under **Fix these and validate again:**, and any warnings under **Worth a look**.

## What the checks can't catch

Some problems only show up when the platform receives the post, for example a video in the wrong shape for YouTube Shorts, a link to an extra carousel slide that stopped working, or a connection that the client revoked after you scheduled. Those posts end up **Failed**; see [A post failed to publish](https://kredia.io/help/en/troubleshooting-and-platform-limits/fix-a-failed-post).
